I was just reading on one of the stingray tours that the boat photographer got stung by a ray and had to get medical help, so no joke. Did you hear this and how is that possible?

We will be in Grand Cayman for only 7 hours on Feb. 2 when cruising on Carnival and wish to go to Sting Ray City. Is there a booth/Kiosk right outside the cruise ship on the pier that we can hook up with? Would rather do it last minute in light of the fact the weather etc may not be good. Usually less expensive to do it outside the cruise excursions as well. Thanks so much!

You certainly have plenty of options for visiting StingRay City on short notice. Capt. Marvin's is highly recommended and about a 10 minute cab ride from the docks. Moby Dick's provides shuttle service from the docks to their boats. Depending on your desire to snorkel along with the visit to Stingray City (where you will stand in waist deep water) most of the trip run 2 1/2 to 3 hours depending on the number of snorkeling stops. Cruise ship stops are well known in advance and most of the local dive and tours have packages scheduled around the ship's docking/departure schedules.
