Apple announced its opening of a manufacturing academy in Detroit. The plans were released as Apple announced Monday that it would spend more than $500 billion in the U.S. over the next four years on facilities across the nation. Apple, which launched an academy for app developers in the city in 2021, made the announcement as part of a plan to double its manufacturing fund in the U.S. to $10 billion, hire 20,000 new workers and produce AI servers in the U.S.

The academy will also offer free in-person and online courses, with a skills development curriculum that teaches workers project management and manufacturing process optimization. This new academy is part of a $500 billion commitment to build on American innovation and high-skilled manufacturing.
