Market Basket to replace Showcase Cinemas in Seekonk
The Showcase Cinemas off Route 6 in Seekonk is set to close and be replaced by a Market Basket, the town planner confirmed to 12 News. Demoulas Super Markets Inc., which owns the grocery store chain, purchased the property earlier this year. Showcase Cinemas said the Seekonk theater’s last day of operations will be Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025.

SEEKONK – Showcase Cinemas in Seekonk will close on Jan. 5 as Market Basket, which bought the property in July, has submitted plans for a grocery store and two other retail buildings on the 16.4-acre site. Showcase Spokeswoman Colleen McCormick Blair wrote in a statement that they are encouraging patrons to either go to Providence or Attleboro.
