Four New Orleans players who’ve been suspended since late January are under investigation for possible NCAA violations related to sports gambling, a person familiar with the situation said.

UNO introduced a new starting lineup on Feb. 1 against Southeastern and has since played short-handed, with only seven players available most nights.

In what has quickly become a trend throughout college basketball this season, the University of New Orleans became the latest program to suspend and investigate a slew of its players for sports gambling.

The Privateers have held out four of their top five scorers since they fell to Incarnate Word on Jan. 27 for a violation of team rules. According to Goodman and the Associated Press, they are under investigation by both the NCAA and the school for sports gambling violations.
