Allegheny County Council appears poised to vote on a 1.7 mill tax hike — lower than the executive wanted, but higher than last week’s counterproposal.

Allegheny County will see a property tax increase next year — the first in more than a decade, but lower than what was initially proposed by Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato. Innamorato on Tuesday announced that her office and County Council struck a deal to raise property taxes by 1.

If the county executive’s proposal doesn’t go through, we’ll see many of the agencies with whom we collaborate have to make some tough decisions,” Golin said.

Proposals surrounding the budget haven't come without controversy and it's unclear what may or may not get passed by council ahead of the Friday deadline.
