On the back of the check you'll see a few blank lines and an "x" that indicates where you should sign your name. The back might also say, "Endorse here" and "Do not endorse / sign / stamp below ...

Endorsing a check allows you to cash it, deposit it into your bank account or gift it to someone else. You can endorse a check by signing your name in the marked area on the back of the check.
