Mehmet Oz, a celebrity heart surgeon turned talk show host and lifestyle guru, is President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to run the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the massive federal health care bureaucracy that covers more than a third of Americans.

Trump has nominated Dr. Mehmet Oz to serve as administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which runs Medicare, Medicaid and other health care functions. Oz, of course, hosted a daytime talk show for 13 years before exiting to run for an open Senate seat in Pennsylvania in 2022. He lost that seat to John Fetterman.
