The Pentagon plans to kick out currently serving transgender service members who don’t meet specific requirements under its new policy, according to official guidance made public in a Wednesday court filing.

Critics say Pentagon policy is a "purge" because it only allows transgender troops if they serve in their sex assigned at birth.

Lt. Cmdr. Geirid Morgan told ABC News that as an openly transgender woman, seeing the ban in "black and white" was "jarring."

Transgender troops will be removed from U.S. military service unless they obtain a waiver, according to the Pentagon's memo.

In a memo, the Pentagon said the U.S. will begin removing transgender troops from the military within 30 days unless they obtain a waiver on a case-by-case basis.

The health constraints of gender dysphoria are ‘incompatible with the high mental and physical standards necessary for military service,’ the order says.
