Brodie Johnston looked like a star, but Vanderbilt baseball's offense otherwise struggled in the Southern California College Baseball Classic.

Vanderbilt baseball's (9-3) second trip west this season wasn't as friendly as the first as the Commodores lost consecutive games at the Southern California College Baseball Classic after winning two of three in Arizona to open the year.

Vanderbilt baseball opened up the Southern California College Baseball Classic with an 8-3 win at UCLA on Friday night. The Commodores (9-1) got a triple and a home run from freshman Brodie Johnston and a home run from Mac Rose. They gave up just three hits to the Bruins (7-3). Vanderbilt will face Southern Cal at 4 p.m. CT Saturday.

Vanderbilt women's basketball is the No. 8 seed in the SEC tournament and could rematch with the Tennessee Lady Vols.

The Vanderbilt Commodores (20-9, 8-8) play their final home game on Tuesday as they welcome John Calipari and the Arkansas Razorbacks (17-12, 16-10) into Memorial Gymnasium for a late tip. The Commodores look to be safely in the NCAA Tournament after defeating three ranked teams in a row and now focus on improving their seeding for the SEC Tournament in Bridgestone Arena.

Chris Manon amassed 23 points and 11 rebounds and Jason Edwards added 17 points -- 15 after halftime -- as Vanderbilt came from behind to beat No. 14 Missouri 97-93 in overtime on Saturday in a key Southeastern Conference clash in Nashville.
