Lambda Legal and the NAACP have joined forces to sue President Donald Trump over his executive orders to purge diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts from the federal government. Trump’s dictate has had consequences extending well beyond the Washington bureaucracy that he seeks to remake.

The organizations claimed that the president had exceeded his authority in issuing the orders, and that they intentionally discriminated against Black and transgender people.

Civil and human rights organizations have teamed up to file a lawsuit against the Trump administration over the president’s executive orders on diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) and transgender rights.
