Districts across the state are adopting district-wide policies on cellphone use since they were mandated to do so by the state Legislature last April.

LAUSD school board members voted last June to move forward on the resolution banning cell phones during school hours.

Rep. Joel Kitchens said the policy would be beneficial to students and put enforcement power behind school districts.
