Mike McCarthy is taking 2025 off from coaching, but he’s reportedly been helping Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers prep for the NFL scouting combine.

The Texas Football program will look a lot different in 2025 without Quinn Ewers at quarterback. The Longhorns got through the entire 2024 season with Ewers at quarterback, despite suffering multiple injuries throughout the year.

Ewers is expected to throw at the NFL combine this week when quarterbacks are slated to work out on March 1, according to NFL Media. The report adds that Ewers is fully recovered from a torn oblique he suffered during the Longhorns' second game of the season against Michigan and is weighing in at about 215 pounds.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday that Ewers has been working with former Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy. Pelissero relayed that McCarthy has been impressed with the QB through hours of conversations in recent weeks.
