Microsoft has stopped offering updates to Windows 11 version 24H2 on PCs that have certain Ubisoft games installed, Bleeping Computer reports. The company made the move after complaints that Star Wars Outlaws and games in the Assassin’s Creed series were crashing after installing the new Windows update.

Microsoft has temporarily halted the rollout of its latest Windows 11 24H2 update on PCs. The move comes after several users reported game crashes, freezes, and audio issues with certain Ubisoft games after the update. Affected titles include popular franchises like Assassin's Creed, Star Wars Outlaws, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Windows 11 24H2 has just received an optional update which comes with some useful tweaks to the interface. This is patch KB5046740 and it’s in preview – so as ever, you might come across glitches if you install it – and the main changes on the desktop are applied to the taskbar and Start menu.

Microsoft blocked the Windows 11 24H2 update due to issues with USB-connected peripherals supporting the eSCL protocol. Gamers might face black screens during gameplay in specific Ubisoft titles after updating to Windows 11 24H2.
