Oh, Alexa, how you’ve changed. The long-awaited new Alexa, Alexa Plus, is set to bring a more conversational, context-aware, and capable assistant to your smart home. With a new voice (eight of them, in fact) and a new attitude, this is the biggest change to the voice assistant since it debuted in 2014. And it all sounds very impressive.

Amazon showed off the upgraded Alexa+ at a press event in New York City, revealing it can choose from a whole collection of generative AI models to fulfill your requests in a more conversational way.

Amazon has unveiled Alexa Plus and while it’s rolling out to Echo Show smart displays first, most Echo smart speakers will also be supported.

If you own one of the current generation of Echo Show devices, not only will you be able to use Alexa Plus, you'll also be one of the first to access it as part of an early roll-out program. The Echo Show devices with early Alexa Plus access are:
