Six weeks after devastating wildfires, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass ousted the city’s fire chief amid a public rift over preparations for the fires and finger-pointing between the chief and City Hall.

Mayor Karen Bass announced the decision to remove Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley from her position in a statement Friday.

Chief Kristin Crowley had accused Mayor Karen Bass’s administration of underfunding the department, and Bass accused Crowley of failing to prepare for the firestorm.
