Fall is a great time in New Jersey to see a fantastic array of yellows, oranges, and reds on the leaves of trees and shrubs.

Another native species to consider is the Fothergilla major, also known as witch-alder. It is in the same family as witch-hazel. This is an excellent shrub for the residential landscape.
