Most of the recent confirmed measles cases in Texas have been in the South Plains region, but this patient was exposed to the disease while traveling overseas.

State health officials insisted on Friday that there have been no confirmed cases of rubella or measles in Central Texas.

The measles virus is airborne and spreads easily when an infected person breathes, sneezes or coughs. It most commonly affects kids.
