The Puget Sound region is a coastal area of the Pacific Northwest in the U.S. state of Washington, including Puget Sound, the Puget Sound lowlands, and the surrounding region roughly west of the Cascade Range and east of the Olympic Mountains.

Puget Sound is a large inland estuary connected to the Pacific Ocean. It is about 95 miles long and 1 to 5 miles wide with it’s northern boundary at Admiralty Inlet and ending in the south at the city of Olympia. The shoreline is 1330 miles long, of that some 30% is armored with bulkheads.
