2007年3月5日 · It is easier for them to handle the approximate 5'+ logs and peel the veneer. Seems slightly archaic. Speaking of archaic, up until fairly recently (last 10 years or so) chinese plywood was produced with veneers that were basically hung to dry on clotheslines. It made for very random moisture levels and the plywood tended to warp badly.

If you THICKNESS plywood you are safe until you reach the glue layer, when severe dulling will happen.Ditto for face planing or surfacing on your jointer. A large portion of the suspect panels are made up of Poplar core with Poplar skins that at first glance to the casual looker may look like Birch .

2017年3月16日 · Thanks for the comment. I’ve never seen multiply plywood in my local box stores... they have a birch plywood but the 3/4” version is 5 ply (vs the 13 ply on Baltic birch). I contacted one of my local lumber yards a while back and was quoted $120 for a sheet of multiply! You’d think it would be easier!
