Getting the most out of an Air Still - Home Distiller
Dec 4, 2011 · It’s good to hear experienced distillers still use their air still for something so I can get an idea for what recipes work. I’m willing to drink anything that tastes good so I’m not worried about styles (gin, vodka, etc.). My air still is a Still Spirits brand so it’s a hole-less 700mL variety.

May 7, 2011 · An air still will extract the alcohols but it cannot sort them out. Brewing something that can be drunk without the stillin may be the best way to go with an air still, eg brew a good wine and then use the air still to remove excess water. Brewing a good wine takes many months of careful brewing, clearing, and ageing.

Jun 1, 2018 · The air still is a basic pot still so lots of head/tail smearing going on. Could have got more yield with airing out the jars for a day before testing as well I would imagine. While I work on building something to suit my interests the air still experiments provide a decent bit of fun/learning in the meantime.

I came across the air still at a decent price (2nd hand) and thought I could use it for small batches. I am mainly interested in gin so will make the neutral spirit and cuts on the T500 and then re-distill with the air still to test out recipes.
