2021年12月2日 · What is interesting and not widely known is that Thomas Hearns was not always a ‘Bomber’ and it was Steward who deserves the credit for seeing the potential of that right hand and changing Hearns from a light hitting amateur boxer to one of the most devastating punchers in boxing history.

The devasting puncher became the first boxer in history to win five world titles in five different weight divisions. During his career Hearns fought other well-known boxers including Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler.

Later that year, Hearns made history, becoming the first man to win titles in four divisions by halting Juan Roldan (KO 4) to win the WBC middleweight belt. Hearns added yet another title to his collection, defeating James Kinchen (W 12) for the WBO super middleweight title in 1988.

Hearns was known as a devastating puncher throughout his career, even at cruiserweight, despite having climbed up five weight classes. He is ranked number 18 on The Ring's list of 100 greatest punchers of all time.
