But having the mast pivot above the deck can easily double the load on the deck and greatly increase the cost of the project by requiring the reinforcement in the deck and the lower portion of the mast (tabernacle) to be much more robust in all directions.

Once up far enough hang a turning block and make a four or five part block and tackle. Run the tackle line through a deck block and over to the jib sheet winch. Hook the mast at the spreaders if above the pivot point.

If the boat is sitting fairly high, adding a mast and the proper supports for it on the deck can cause an issue, since the bridge clearances in many areas is only 14' or so.

2024年10月4日 · I hired a truck to haul my mast the length of the Erie canal once. Not cheap. OTL has the best plan. Many of the specialty purpose long haul boat trailers have mast chocks on the side. I’m sure you could find one available that was hauling a powerboat. Did you buy a replacement mast or does the boat need to move too?

2016年12月6日 · The mast boot usually leaked and the wedges would groan when the mast moved in a seaway. On my C&C the wedges fell out and it was a real PITA to pull the boot, install the wedges, put the boot back on and make it waterproof.

2010年2月28日 · The shroud chain plates were exactly in line with the mast base (cabin stepped) and the step was a huge gimble. They used the anchor windlass and special tackle on the forestay to lower the mast over the wheel house top. Since the shrouds and mast gimble pins were all in line the rig stayed under control as it came down.
