Milkvetch toxins act quickly with most animals that ingest lethal doses dying in 4-25 hours. One kg of green milkvetch may be a lethal dose for a 500-kg cow. Animals that die quickly may not show clinical signs; but more often, animals die within 3 or 4 hours after eating the plant.
