2023年6月12日 · OpenSUSE is one of the oldest distributions out there that even predates Red Hat. Back in the early days SUSE were considered the only project which had a solid KDE implementation, even to this day. As for why I believe OpenSUSE is great for daily driving: Tumbleweed always receives the latest packages from upstream development.

2022年3月8日 · Binary Quality: Somehow openSUSE's binaries work better with my hardware and don't cause any dubious issues unlike on Arch/Fedora where those rarely occur. This might be different with different hardware though. Compatibility: Near-full .rpm coverage + OBS + Flatpak is plenty for the fact that opensuse is nowhere near as popular as Arch/Debian.

2023年10月9日 · OpenSUSE does have a more stable option with its Leap spin, although I understand its future is a little in flux at the moment. A slower rolling release (Slowroll) is also on the way. I can definitely vouch for Tumbleweed's gaming ability though. It's easy enough to install the Nvidia drivers and switch to Xorg, and then away you go.

Also nvidia supports openSUSE Leap and Tumbleweed first class as they even provide the driver repository for it. So if nv drivers would break on any openSUSE release you can expect it to be patched with in a couple of hours or a few days. In the mean time, use the last Kernel where the driver module compiled successful on.

2015年8月4日 · I had previously searched for “kernel” in Yast software manager, and it showed 3.7.10. However, after seeing that “rpm” output, I clicked the “versions” button in software manager, and it showed both 3.7.9 and 3.7.10.

I switched from Fedora -> Arch -> openSUSE Tumbleweed because: I didn't like the release model of Fedora - Arch and Tumblewed are rolling openQA - packages on openSUSE go through automated tests before being released
