I went through the entire PS4 gen using my Xbox Elite controller on PS4 and it was great as someone who prefers asymmetrical thumbsticks. Could also use a Swith Pro controller or any other that you like.

After a bit the creaking was gone but now it's permanently drifting, and it was my second controller, so yeah awful build quality on DualSense for the insane price they're asking for it. I don't know if it was the controller that came with the console or the one from Amazon, but I sent the broken one back to Amazon regardless, with no issue. Ignorance was bliss in my case!
