2012年6月30日 · How does the cork mysteriously soak so much water up but leave the sanitizer behind yet when it hits wine the water isn't taken into the cork first? How do you keep a cork both dry AND humid? the presence of water surely "activates any mould or contaminants on the cork" and his poetry sucks more than Jack K's does!

2016年3月24日 · Cork apparently will start to change the flavour of the wine over long periods of time. They were also finding that it would break down and you would get the "spoiled bottle" of some occasionally. Apparently the screw times are air tight and will not break down. Also this way the wine can be conditioned up right or laying down.

I've never used corks before, but I have my dad's old red plastic Gilda corker (I don't think he ever used it) and want to give it a try instead of using up all my swing-top cider bottles. I'll be using assorted recycled 750ml and 1.5L wine bottles.

2013年3月21日 · It's your wine, do what you see fit, I was simply trying to tell you why you do not want to do it. If you wanted to hear if it was physically possible, I'm sure you could jam a used cork into a bottle of wine if you are not concerned about spoilage or bacteria, go for it.

2006年10月16日 · Now I suppose I could just bottle my wine in 12 oz bottles and use crown caps, but that doesn't seem right. So I guess I'm going to need wine bottles and corks and a corker. It looks like it will cost me roughly the same to buy (30) - 750ml bottles plus corks and corker as it would to by (36) - 1L Flip top style bottles.

2008年6月3日 · Remember using cork may result in TCA (cork taint). Caused by a fungus that is present in basically all cork but only making it into wine (or mead) in about 10% of bottles. My experience is that I have found many commercial bottles with TCA working in wine tasting rooms, I open a lot of bottles.

I've been doing this for at least 400-500 bottles of wine now, and I'm very pleased with it! I have only had about 3 corks fail in the last 8 years!
