Thorn does great with necrotics, is insanely fun, and is perfectly viable for most levels of play if you can hit your shots. The only reason I almost never use it anymore is ‘cus they freed Osteo from deluxe edition hell, and that gun power creeps the thing into oblivion while also being way easier to use. If a character has the war caster feat and they have Thorn Whip as a cantrip, what is the triggering range for opportunity attacks for this spell?

2021年5月8日 · Thorn normally doesn't spread its DoT effect when you kill something. And by itself, Necrotic Grip only spread's its DoT on melee hits or when the target dies. Together, when you kill something with the Thorn, you spread the DoT from Necrotic Grip without needing the melee hit, like how Firefly/Dragonfly work but with a damage over time effect ...

2024年2月16日 · Playing a dual-wield bardadin right now, and in act 2 Dammon sells the Thorn Blade. It's ensaring strike ability is a joke, and it only has +1 enchantment, but you get an additional 1d4 poison dmg while concentrating (usually on Detect Thoughts).

My roommate has a Thorn and was using it for a fair few months, I decided I wanted to do something different and got the Simagic, and after borrowing it once she picked up her own. Having used both, I don't see much reason for the Thorn unless you're that budget restricted. But if you're able to swing the money, I would take a DS-8X every day.
