2021年2月24日 · For me, it was Fry's Electronics. I had some fantastic memories of that store throughout my childhood: I got my first several PC games (Call of Duty 1, Battlefield 1942, Half-Life 2, Serious Sam: The Second Encounter, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault) there.

Fry's electronics was like a PC/Console gamer theme park with some appliances and home/car stereo and a restaurant thrown in for sprinkles on top. Spent quite a few hours there and not to mention that crazy snake chain checkout line and the 42 registers ha ha.

2021年2月24日 · I visited the Anaheim FRY's about 3 months ago and it still looked like a normal thriving store at that time. That store still had dozens of PC cases for sale, plenty of motherboards and parts for DIY PCs. Lots of major home appliances and home theater too.

2022年1月8日 · I think that just like Fry's missing the boat numerous times in the last 5-10 years, Microcenter could've had a great opportunity last year (and still do, kinda). If Fry's had just stocked up early on toilet paper and bottled water in 2020, they probably could've survived. Ironic.

Amazon. There isn't enough margin in consumer electronics to support a big store like Fry's. Fry's begain in the middle 1980s and by 2020 their model was obsolete. It was a good run. I personally visited at least 10 different Fry's, including the original in Sunnyvale, CA. Best Buy doesn't stand a chance in the long run. Short their stock now!

2021年2月24日 · Sucks for the employees but they've (Fry's) been circling the drain for a while so this isn't much of a surprise. The last couple years any time I'd go to a Fry's (FV, City of Industry, and Burbank) they've always had a poor selection of any PC parts or audio stuff. Lot's of empty shelves going back years now.
