2016年1月9日 · Hi Reddit - I just got a brand new Audi A3 and am considering having paint protection film applied to the entire front end. What are your thoughts on this? I've gotten a few quotes, and the most reasonable one is approx $1300 to cover the full hood, bumper, front fenders, and mirrors.

Assuming paint protection film, then the answer depends on what car, in what environment you drive, and how long you plan on owning the car. Getting a new Toyota Corolla, drive an average amount, and plan on owning the vehicle for just a few years? Probably not worth the expense relative to car's value.

Doing a partial wrap, or only wrapping high-impact areas of a car will create noticeable dirt lines on the edge of the film.

2022年5月21日 · Murphy's law states, the rock will hit the spot that the protective film isn't on. Been there done that. My opinion is save your money. Take that 2500+ it cost to put this garbage on only 1/5th the cars body, and invest it, by the time the paint looks like trash, you'll have enough money to repaint the WHOLE CAR with money left over.

2022年1月7日 · new car sales maybe. used cars are a different story. and there's tons of used cars ~10 yrs old being sold and bought. even ~20 yr old cars. so if the last new ICE car is sold 2030, it might still be sold as a used vehicle in 2050.

I have paperwork from the ceramic coating company and dealership stating that the protection was applied at X miles on a specific date. Fast forward a few weeks, I went to a local auto detailing business to get paint protection film applied on my car.

Fluid Film is awesome, but I've had better luck with Wool's Wax. It seems to stick around longer. It's a bit more expensive, so I still use the cheaper Fluid Film on the shitboxes, but the new cars get Wool's Wax. You do have to use an air sprayer for the Wool's Wax, because it's thicker. But IMO it's worth it for the new cars.

I'm a little leary of leaving it on that long , though the car has been garaged when not driven and there hasn't been much wear and tear on the PPF even after autocross and track, since I apply temporary "rollon" PPF from a bottle …

2024年1月16日 · Depends on the car, the number of parts covered and the type of film. Full front (bumper, headlights, hood, side mirrors) ,clear bra, with top quality 3M film might be upwards of $3500. Full car in the same material, I've seen people paying $7-9k, but that's pretty crazy on a Toyota. There are cheaper options as well.
