I currently have a DX of osteopenia in the left hip and degenerative disc disease is so bad in my lumbar spine that the radiologist has suggested that the lumbar spine not be used for future bone density tests since it does not provide a good bone density evaluation.

My surgeon has released me from all restrictions yet there is very little research about the healing process/bone remodeling for those like me with osteopenia. My t-score was -2.3 a week before surgery yet I have read that the prosthesis will reduce t-score, thus pushing me into osteoporosis.

2024年11月19日 · Average Femoral neck: -1.65 “Osteopenia” Average Total hip: -1.35 “Osteopenia” My doctor is no longer recommending I begin drug therapy! So…..it is possible to tackle osteoporosis using alternative methods, and successfully increase your bone density. Not to say that is the only way, but hey, it sure is worth a try.

After my first dexa bone scan the doctor suggested taking 2 D3+K vitamins along with magnesium, coQ10, turmeric and other supplements, two years later, my dexa bone scan showed my spine number had improved to severe osteopenia. I did improve my diet as well, did some walking.

2023年5月29日 · Osteopenia does not cause pain. Get checked out for other reasons for your pain. I’ve had osteopenia for years, and while I understand everybody’s body is different, don’t assume the osteopenia is causing your pain. I’m now in my 70’s and I’m highly active with both osteopenia and osteoporosis, as are some of my friends. Best to you!

2024年11月29日 · I went from severe osteoporosis in my LS with a worse score of -4.1 to a worst score in my LS of -2.1. So that's severe osteoporosis to osteopenia in less than a year. My hips didn't make it though as I've still got a -2.5 in my femoral neck. Hopefully next DXA my FN will be out of the osteoporosis numerical range and be stronger.

At that time, I was Osteopenia for the hips and neck which had remained the same for five years without any medication. The T and Z scores for my spine dropped from Ostopenia to Osteoperosis.
