South American coral snake, a beautiful venomous snake from the the Peruvian Amazon!! I posted one we found at night a week ago, this one was brought to us by my local friend Emerson! “Red touch black friend of jack”?? Definitely not the case here!! That rhyme is commonly used to tell the venomous coral snake from harmless mimics in the US, but it does NOT apply to coral snakes south of the border!! (Or even in the US as aberrant patterns occur) Another common, but incorrect, “rule” is that cora
